The Bachelor of Health Science is a programme designed for you to attain the necessary core clinical, biomedical and scientific expertise with interprofessional emphasis. You will gain clinical and/or laboratory exposure and experience while engaging in breadth courses that will provide you with critical analytical and methodological tools together with adaptable skills and attitude you’ll need to become a lifelong partner.

The field of health sciences is inherently multi-disciplinary. So, too, are the interests and expertise of Universiti Brunei Darussalam's faculty and students, which extends across the clinical, biomedical and scientific sciences. The Bachelor of Health Science degree programme is unique because it is a combination of both broad-based and breadth courses to the major discipline.

The teaching style is student centric and the lecturers will also engage students to develop innovation, leadership, environmental awareness as well as entrepreneurship.

2 Major Core Modules (Anatomy I & II)

After successful completion of the 3 years with 100 Modular Credits, the student will be awarded, Bachelor of Health Science (Ordinary) degree and can proceed to one of the Partner Medical Schools (PMS) (in United Kingdom or Australia) where they will study for another 2 or 3 years. After successful completion in the PMS, the student will be awarded the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB, MBBS or BM) by the PMS.

The optional fourth year for those students who do not wish to progress to the PMS, shall consist of not less than 36 weeks study. Upon Successful completion, the student will be award Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) degree.

Entry Requirements

At Universiti Brunei Darussalam, the true common characteristics of our students are demonstrated leadership potential and a capacity to thrive in a rigorous academic environment.

Bachelor of Health Science (Medicine)

300 points for 3 ‘A’ Level credits (credits must be from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics); or
An internationally recognized degree of upper second or first class honours in a relevant discipline from Universiti Brunei Darussalam or any other university recognized by the University Senate; or
An International Baccalaureate with a score of 36 points.
Have a minimum of credit 6 for ‘O’ Level English Language or a grade ‘C’ in IGCSE English (as a Second Language) or 6.5 for IELTS or overall score of 550 for TOEFL.

* Please note that candidates satisfying the entry requirements will have to undergo a selection interview process known as the Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI).

Bachelor of Health Science (Biomedical Sciences)

240 points for 3 ‘A’ Level credits (credits must be from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics); or
An International Baccalaureate with score of 32 points.
Have a minimum of credit 6 for ‘O’ Level English Language or a grade ‘C’ in IGCSE English (as a Second Language) or 6.0 for IELTS or overall score of 550 for TOEFL.

Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing or Midwifery)

240 points for 3 'A' Level credits (Credits must be from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics) with only one grade ‘D’ allowed in the combination; or
An internationally recognized degree of second class honours in a relevant discipline from Universiti Brunei Darussalam or any other university recognized by the University Senate ; or
An International Baccalaureate with a score of 32 points; or
A Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery from Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah College of Nursing with several Merits obtained during the years of study of the Diploma programme may also be considered.
Have a minimum of credit 6 for ‘O’ Level English Language or a grade ‘C’ in IGCSE English (as a Second Language) or 6.0 for IELTS or overall score of 550 for TOEFL.
