Aims/ Objectives/ Rationale:
In the present business climate, much emphasis is put on the role of leaders to achieve good organisational performance. The module aims to increase the students’ understanding of the nature, the characteristics and the roles of leadership as well as the motivations of effective leaders. The module focuses on four levels of analysis including the leader; his or her personality, the tasks or results, the followers and the team. The module will introduce and assess basic theories and research about leaders’ roles and responsibilities, and develop in students the ability to analyse leadership situations and apply concepts and theories to help get the job done, better the relationships, grow individuals and improve the team. It is also the intent of the module to acquaint the students with the study and nature of resilient leaders.
